Real Madrid have won La Liga Promises tournament 16 years after their previous success.

Los Blancos beat Inter Milan in the final of the Under-13 tournament earlier this week, winning the trophy for a seventh time.

But they had gone 16 long years without winning the trophy.

Back in 2002, Madrid beat Barcelona 1-0 in the final.

But what happened to the eight players that featured in that final back in 2002?

Did they ever make it at the Bernabeu?

Let’s take a look:

THE REAL MADRID SIDE THAT WON IN 2002

Yelco Ramos Ursua

Ursua was the goalkeeper on the day and went on to play for Madrid C.

After leaving the club, he played for various Spanish clubs such as Albacete, Villarreal and Nastic.

The 28-year-old is now currently playing for Las Rozas, based in the Community of Madrid.

Jose Luis Arroyo Sanz

Sanz soon left Real Madrid and dropped down to the Spanish third division with the likes of Noja, Murcia Imperial, Colmenar Viejo, Deportivo B, Canillas, San Fernando, Sanse, Unionists and Écija.

He now plays for UP Plasenci as a midfielder.

Nacho Fernandez

Nacho scored the winning goal in the final against Barcelona in 2002 and has gone on to play for the first-team.

The Spanish defender has played 173 times for Los Merengues, winning one La Liga and four Champions League titles.

Victor Munoz

Munoz is the only player to have played in the 2002 triumph that doesn’t currently have a club. He last played for Sanse but also tried his luck in America with UCLA Bruins, DC United, Kansas and Phoenix Rings.

Javi Robles

Robles plays for Internacional de Madrid in Segunda Division B - Group 1.

After leaving Madrid, he played for Getafe and has also played for Alcobendas Sport, Puerta Bonita, Rayo Vallecano B and Fuenlabrada.

Denis Cheryshev

Another player that managed to make the grade at Real Madrid - although not quite as successfully as Nacho.

Now, Cheryshev plays for Valencia on loan from Villarreal.

He also enjoyed a fantastic World Cup with Russia in the summer.

Victor Merchan

Worked his way up to Real Madrid Castilla but couldn’t quite manage to force his way into the first-team.

He’s since played for Espanyol B, Caudal, Terrasa, Vilafranca, Alcobendas, Denzlingen in Germany and he’s currently playing for CF San Agustín.

Antonio Martinez Felipe

Felipe stayed at the club until 2011 before he went on loan to Mirandes. He went on to sign for Alcorcon and Numancia, but now finds himself at Cultural Leonesa.
