Brock Lesnar hasn't fought for UFC since he faced Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in July 2016, but in July earlier this year, he entered the USADA drug-testing pool to initiate his return to the Octagon.

The opponent he had in mind for his return to UFC was UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. Lesnar appeared at UFC 226 and shoved Cormier inside the Octagon following his win vs Stipe Miocic.

Nothing has happened to further push this fight towards actually happening. However, Jon Jones may have just thrown a spanner in the works for the former UFC Heavyweight title holder.

After winning the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight title this past weekend at UFC 232, Bones called out DC for a third fight, and this looks the more likely fight to happen since Brock is still involved in the WWE.

Speaking on Lesnar's future in UFC, UFC President Dana White made it clear that while he's still very much in the picture, UFC isn't going to wait for him to come if he decides to sign another deal with the WWE.

White said, via MMA Weekly: “He’s not out of the picture. I think he’s already under contract with me. So we were talking about it and then he ended up signing a new deal with WWE. What I think happens is he’s in a very unique position cause he can play this thing between UFC and WWE.

"They get right down to the wire and I think Vince [McMahon] throws so much money at him that he says ‘all right I’ll do it again’.

“Cause this is here no matter what. When he’s ready, he can come in here and fight and he’s going to make a s—t load of money here, too. So it makes sense. I’m assuming that’s what’s going on.”

Dana continued: “One of the things you guys know about me, I don’t wait for anybody. I’m not f—king waiting around for anybody. I’m rolling with the business. Guy doesn’t want to fight this year? It’s all good.

“It doesn’t matter how big you are, what your deal is, you don’t want to fight, do your thing. When you’re ready to fight, you come back and you talk to me and we’ll figure something out.”

Lesnar is currently the Universal Champion in WWE, which is one of the top titles in the promotion. This means he will be heavily involved in the company's storylines heading into 2019.

While this doesn't mean he can't fight for UFC, as we've already seen it happen once before, White isn't going to wait around for him either, and with a potential fight option like Jones vs Cormier 3 on the table, who could blame him?
