'The New' Daniel Bryan has been tearing up SmackDown Live ever since his shocking heel turn.
After lowblowing AJ Styles on the episode before Survivor Series, Bryan captured the WWE Championship and has gone on a rampage as of late.
R-Truth and Mustafa Ali were his latest victims on the Christmas Day edition of the blue brand, with the latter defeating Bryan in a tag team match the week prior.
A characteristic of Bryan's new persona is that he's a staunch defender of the earth, and we know away from WWE that Bryan is a vegan and was even given an award by PETA.
So when he tells the audience that they're contributing to climate change and that they are ruining the environment, we don't know if he's speaking in-character or from the heart.
Regardless, it makes a change from the cookie-cutter babyface Bryan, and it's given him a new lease of life at the top of the card.
Before taking on the returning John Cena in a steel cage match at a WWE live event in Baltimore this past week, Bryan addressed the audience in true heel-like fashion, denouncing them before making a declaration.
“You people used to revere the old Daniel Bryan, you used to love the old Daniel Bryan, but the old Daniel Bryan is dead," Bryan told the fans.
"Shut up! I did not give you permission to chant “YES!” I am not here to please you people. I am no longer the people’s champion, I am the planet’s champion.
"I’m out here defending the planet from you heathens every single night. I don’t care if it’s AJ Styles, I don’t care if it’s the great John Cena, tonight I am going to prove why I am the planet’s champion.”
You've got to admit Bryan is doing a fantastic job in the role he is playing.
If you read spoilers, you know that Bryan's set for a title defence at the Royal Rumble against a SmackDown star, but for the purpose of surprise we will not reveal the opponent in this article.
We wonder how long it will take for the fans to get tired of Bryan's environmental outbursts, but he's a good enough sports entertainer to be able to switch his act up when things are dying down.
