Aaron Ramsey has a little more than six months remaining on his Arsenal contract and it’s looking increasingly likely that he will be leaving the club this summer.

The midfielder - who captained his side in Saturday's 5-1 loss to Liverpool - was in discussions with Arsenal over a new contract but the offer has since been withdrawn.

But Ramsey won’t be leaving in January.

Arsenal believe that his value to the squad is greater than what they could recoup through a transfer fee and savings on his salary.

They rate the midfielder at £40 million, a fee that would put off many potential suitors who are able to sign him for free in just six months time.

Instead, according to the BBC’s David Ornstein, Ramsey will hold talks with five top European clubs in January before leaving next summer.

They’ve been named as Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris St-Germain and Real Madrid.

That’s some list.

So, Ramsey is seemingly good enough for five of the best sides in Europe but not good enough for Arsenal to break the bank to hand him a new contract?

Italian media claimed it was Juve that Ramsey would be joining in the summer but BBC say that “contrary to some reports, he has not yet made a decision.”

There is mention of a potential Arsenal signing though.

The same report says: “Out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, 24, among those under consideration.”

Suarez could well be a possible replacement for the outgoing Ramsey but it’s unlikely to be a trade that will please too many Arsenal fans.
