Chelsea have made the biggest move of the January transfer window so far, sensationally signing Christian Pulisic for €64 million.

The highly-rated American has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now and Chelsea have defeated apparent interest from Liverpool to secure his signature.

Pulisic will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, before moving to west London in the summer after over a decade away from England.

Dortmund director Michael Zorc explained in a statement on Wednesday morning: "It was always Christian's dream to play in the Premier League.

"That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract.

Pulisic signs for Chelsea

"Against this background, we have decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity."

Dortmund fans will still be able to enjoy Pulisic for a further six months and he'll be looking to catch the eyes of Chelsea supporters in his upcoming performances.

But in spite of all the hype surrounding his talent, Premier League fans aren't too aware of his showings in the Bundesliga and it will be interesting to see if he immediately makes the Chelsea team.

There's no shortage of competition in the club's front-line and Callum Hudson-Odoi - who has been the subject of bids from Bayern Munich - might be the irked by this decision.

Nevertheless, assuming that Maurizio Sarri does throw his new signing into the deep end next season, there's a few ways that Chelsea could lineup with him.

In light of that, here are three different ways Chelsea could deploy Pulisic in 2019/2020:

Pulisic on the right

First and foremost, let's get the most likely scenario out of the way.

Pulisic's preferred position sees him playing on the right wing and it makes sense considering Eden Hazard has made the opposite flank his own this season.

As a result, Chelsea would be boasting two incredibly talented wingers on both sides of the pitch and it could bring the best out of Alvaro Morata. Willian and Pedro should be braced for competition.

Pulisic in the centre

It sounds an unlikely scenario, but Sarri's track-record of using unorthodox strikers at Napoli could see Pulisic make some appearances through the middle next season.

His use of Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon back in Italy means Pulisic could be transformed into a more central player as part of a fluid front three.

Although this could prove risky in some of the bigger games for Chelsea, Pulisic interchanging with players like Hazard and Willian could cause plenty of problems for defences.

Pulisic on the left

One of Pulisic's biggest strength is his ambidexterity, earning him a four-star weak foot on FIFA 19.

The only problem would be the importance of Hazard and it might take some major developments for him to lose his position to Pulisic. Fans will hope that doesn't come in form of a Real Madrid move.

Nevertheless, Marcos Alonso's ability coming forward makes the prospect of him playing alongside Pulisic a scary one and he's certainly capable of doing the job.
