Liverpool fans are tweeting about Harry Wilson after club snub Christian Pulisic move

England Press Conference

Liverpool were just one of the many Premier League clubs linked with securing the signature of Christian Pulisic this January.

However, after weeks of speculation, the Borussia Dortmund man has officially been announced as joining Chelsea at the end of the season.

Pulisic’s reported £58m deal makes him the most expensive American in the sport’s history, and even lands himself in the top ten most expensive Premier League transfers of all time.

Eden Hazard has been coy about his Chelsea future this season. And with reports suggesting a blockbuster move to Real Madrid is on the cards, it’s natural that Maurizio Sarri will be looking to reinforce his attacking options.

However, as the news broke on Wednesday morning, Liverpool fans have given their thoughts on their club not pursuing a move for the 20-year-old.

Overwhelmingly, they seem relieved.

It’s hard to imagine Pulisic getting in Liverpool’s starting line-up, given the tantalising attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane.

Even with Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as backups, Pulisic would have a tough time competing for his place in the squad.

Although, in the wake of the news, fans have also drawn attention to the fine form of on-loan star Harry Wilson.

Wilson has managed eight goals and one assist in 20 Championship appearances for Derby County this season. And has earned a reputation for the calibre of goals he has scored from the wing.

Reds fans certainly have brought up some valid points. Even in today’s transfer climate, £58m is a lot of money to spend on a player who may not even crack the starting 11.

Especially given the fact the club secured a move for Shaqiri in the summer for little over £13m, a big-money move for Pulisic seemed less enticing.
