For Dillian Whyte, 2019 will need to be extra special to come close to matching 2018.

His pre-Christmas knockout of Dereck Chisora followed other impressive victories over Joseph Parker and Lucas Browne and now the boxing world is eagerly anticipating his next bout.

Fortunately, the current heavyweight scene is brimming with potential options and in a piece for Sky Sports, Whyte has provided his verdict on some of those big names he may well face at some point in the next 12 months.

Anthony Joshua is probably at the top of the list for Whyte in 2019 with a chance to finally land a shot at a world title and avenge his only professional defeat from over three years ago.

Despite being knocked out in the seventh round, Whyte remains optimistic of his chances against Joshua and blames his first defeat on the tactical approach.

"I believe this time around I'll knock him out because I'll take the fight to him. Last time I sat back and waited, I was trying to box, and trying to wait for him to get tired," he said.

"This time I'll take the fight to him and I know I've just got to hit him once. I proved that already on two separate occasions, and this time I'm in better shape, physically I'm stronger. More boxing IQ, better speed, everything."

Deontay Wilder looks set to take on Tyson Fury after the WBC sanctioned a much-desired rematch between the two heavyweights, after their thrilling draw at the Staples Centre at the beginning of December.

Perhaps Whyte's most damning assessment of his rivals, the Body Snatcher believes he would make light work of the current WBC champion, claiming he has 'no boxing skills and no boxing IQ.'

"Let's go, baby. He's got power, but a good boxer, a decent fighter, can see his punches coming ten miles away. He swings so wide, and he's got no boxing skills, no boxing IQ whatsoever."

Tyson Fury may still be wondering how he didn't become a two-time world champion after his showdown with Wilder in Los Angeles. Fury showed that he still has what it takes to compete at the top-level and he seemingly out-boxed Wilder for the majority of the contest.

Having been knocked down twice against Wilder, though, Whyte believes that he would have no problem knocking out the Gypsy King.

Whyte said: "Long and awkward, but he's not very powerful, and he can get hurt, as he proves time and time again. In most of his fights, he gets put down. I definitely would knock Tyson Fury out."

Alexander Povetkin is eager to bounce back from his defeat to Joshua in September and has expressed an interest in facing the Jamaican-born heavyweight.

The Olympic gold medalist was dispatched in unusually easy fashion by Joshua during their world title bout, and while Whyte admires him as a fighter, he believes the 39-year-old is a 'coward'

"He agreed to fight me at ringside after the David Price fight. Then he said no, I'm not going to fight."

Oleksandr Usyk will forever be remembered for his commanding victory over Tony Bellew, having retired the Liverpudlian after a brutal knockout in the eighth round.

The undisputed cruiserweight champ is expected to make the step up to heavyweight but has been tipped to go straight into the world title picture against Joshua, which surely would leave Whyte aggrieved.

But Whyte says he'd have no trouble defeating the Ukranian: "Usyk, very good boxer, but he's not a heavyweight. If I fight him, I'm not going there to have a boxing match, I'm going there to have a war with him, and make it uncomfortable for him."

Jarrell Miller is perhaps the lesser known name amongst this list, with the American fighter still unbeaten in his 24-fight career.

Despite his impressive record, Miller is yet to convince the boxing world that he is among the elite in the sport, but a match-up against Whyte would be a strong statement from the 30-year old, especially after their recent war of words:

"The fat guy? Miller is a big fat mess. I don't understand how he can be supposedly a world level athlete and just come in the shape he does.

"He's a mess. How can he be over 300lbs?"
