Paul Pogba has looked a completely different player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first four games in charge of Manchester United.

The silky French midfielder has scored four goals in as many games, showcasing his football intelligence and leadership qualities throughout all the games.

Last night's trip to Newcastle was Solskjaer's toughest fixture yet, but United prevailed 2-0 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.

Pogba was a threat throughout and is finally beginning to look like the £89m midfielder United brought back from Juventus.

It is well documented that the World Cup winner and former manager Jose Mourinho did not get on.

The self-proclaimed 'Special One' seemingly had no clue how to get the best out of Pogba and the Frenchman publicly voiced his frustration at Mourinho's defensive tactics.

Due to their toxic relationship, Pogba was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer and it was thought he would leave in January until Mourinho was sacked.

Mino Raiola offered his client to the Blaugrana and a report from Catalan publication Mundo Deportivo has finally explained how United's owners and Ed Woodward reacted to the matter.

Per Sport Witness, Woodward's response was blunt to Barca's advances, stating that Pogba was viewed as the 'apple of the eye' by the Glazers.

They even went as far to say that they see the Frenchman as the Lionel Messi figure at United.

Woodward also explained how Mourinho would likely be the one to leave to keep Pogba at the club - something which in the end came true.

It seems Mourinho really did pick the wrong player to have such a public fallout with.

United's determination to keep Pogba at the club looks like it's paying dividends and it seems likely that he will be named club captain in the near future.

A warning for the man to succeed Solskjaer at the end of the season; make friends with Pogba.
