For weeks, football fans have been looking to Manchester City vs Liverpool as a match that could decide the Premier League title. We may only just have entered January but the clash at Etihad was being billed as a potential title-decider.While that may not be strictly true, there’s no doubt a positive result could give either side the momentum to go on and win the Premier League this season.Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool went into the match six points clear at the top, seven points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s City. Many fans suggested that another win for the visitors could be a massive step towards their first Premier League title. But a City win and the title race is well and truly on.All in all, it was a massive match. As a result, City attempted to generate a bit of atmosphere before kick-off.That began when the City players got off the team coach when they arrived at the Etihad. The club employed an announcer to call out each players’ name when they stepped off the bus and demanded that they “make some noise.”

MAN CITY TRY TO GENERATE ATMOSPHERE

However, it didn’t quite have the desired effect and it just sounded a bit rubbish really. Almost all of the players just kept their headphones in and the City fans couldn't even be heard.

FOOTBALL FANS MOCK CITY

And football fans were quick to mock City for their attempt to generate some noise.

Check out the reaction on social media:

Oh dear.

Of course, there’s a bit of history when it comes to coach greetings before matches between these two sides.

Ahead of the Champions League quarter-final tie between Liverpool and City last season at Anfield, the City bus was bombarded with smoke flares and bottles.

It was something that infuriated Guardiola and clearly rattled his side, as they found themselves 3-0 down after just 31 minutes.
