The Premier League title race is well and truly on.Manchester City beat Liverpool 2-1 at the Etihad to go to within four points of Jurgen Klopp’s side. While the result didn’t determine the title, there’s no doubting just how important it was for both clubs.City could have fallen a massive 10 points behind Liverpool with defeat - a gap that may have been impossible to overhaul. So it’s hardly surprising to see just how ecstatic everyone associated with City was at full-time.And that definitely includes the injured Benjamin Mendy.Mendy hasn’t played since November following knee surgery but that didn’t stop him from running on the pitch at the end to embrace Sergio Aguero. However, it seems his absence from the first-team has caused the club’s stewards to forget who he is.A video has emerged of Mendy, in an orange coat, running onto the pitch on the final whistle only to be chased by two stewards. The two stewards reach Mendy before finally realising who it is. They then run off to protect referee Anthony Taylor instead.

On Thursday night, Goal journalist Sam Lee tweeted: “Mendy on the pitch! Security guards go after him thinking he's a fan and then realise he can do what he wants.”

Mendy then replied with plenty of laughing emoji faces and: “That was close.”

Then, after the video of him running onto pitch was shared, Mendy tweeted with laughing emojis once again and: “Bro was about to tackle me.”

Never change, Benjamin.

The Frenchman will now be concentrating on getting back to full fitness in a bid to help City compete on all four fronts.
