The January transfer window had only been open for one day when Chelsea struck to bring Christian Pulisic to the club.
The American signed for Chelsea for €64m (£58m) but will be loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old has already been capped 23 times for his country and he spoke of his pride at joining the Blues.
"It's a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club," he said.
While Pulisic is highly-rated, there are some concerned Chelsea fans that his arrival will signal the exit of 18-year-old English talent Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Chelsea fans fear that yet another academy graduate will be let go without being given a chance in the first-team.
Putting Hudson-Odoi to one side, though, there’s certainly plenty of reasons to be excited at the arrival of Pulisic.
Just ask someone that has watched him ‘a lot’ - Peter Crouch.
Crouch reserved a few words for Pulisic in his weekly Daily Mail column, writing: “Chelsea, I believe, are synonymous with flair players, those who provide craft and guile and goals.
“Eden Hazard is doing it for them now, following in the footsteps of Arjen Robben, Damien Duff, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Gianfranco Zola.
“In years to come, Christian Pulisic, their new signing, could be held in the same esteem. I have seen a lot of Pulisic and he’s impressed me for a long time. Chelsea’s business to get him signed up for next season already looks smart.”
Well, Pulisic has certainly got Crouch’s approval that’s for sure.
Whether the youngster has been brought in to play alongside Eden Hazard or to replace him remains to be seen, though…
