Drew McIntyre reflects on Triple H telling him to return to the WWE

Drew McIntyre had a successful return to the main roster in 2018.

After making his comeback on NXT, his second run in the company is already turning out much better and more entertaining than his initial stint in the WWE as The Chosen One and then as part of 3MB.

He's already held the NXT Champion and the RAW tag team titles with Dolph Ziggler, and it's common knowledge now that the next step for him on the red brand is the Universal Championship picture in the main event scene after mixing it up with the likes of Braun Strowman and Finn Balor.

Fans are understandably pleased that the WWE is going all in on the Scottish star this time as he's finally living up to his potential, especially since reports claimed that both Triple H and Vince McMahon are personally moulding McIntyre into a main event star.

Recently, McIntyre did an interview with The Orlando Sentinel where he discussed his successful comeback to the WWE.

After highlighting that there was a chip on his shoulder originally, Triple H told him it was time to come home and the rest is history.

According to NoDQ, he said: "When I first went back, I guess in the back of my mind I had a chip on my shoulder, but I don’t think that way anymore. Now I just work harder than those around me and hope that everyone else starts doing the same.

“Triple H convinced me it was time to come home. I’m proud of the different man I became during my time away. I came back as the grown-up version of myself.

“Now all I need to do is become the first British heavyweight champion. I’m not shy to say that’s the goal. If it isn’t, why are you even here?”

It's clear that Triple H is a big advocate of not only McIntyre but also other independent stars that have impressed elsewhere.

In the case of McIntyre, it's different in the sense that the company already knew him before he took his career to new heights.

It seems as if the WWE is already putting him in a bigger spot as WrestleMania season approaches, so fans will be hoping that it's not too long before the Universal Championship is around his waist.
