Alvaro Morata scooped his effort over the bar from two yards against Nottingham Forest

Chelsea played their second string side but still progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Alvaro Morata scored both goals to give Maurizio Sarri's side the victory.

The Spaniard has had a tough time at Chelsea recently.

He's scored just five times in the Premier League so far this season and looks set on a move away from Stamford Bridge.

But he was given his chance to impress on Saturday afteroon and he dmanaged to grasp his opportunity.

Those two goals will be a confidence booster but, he also produced a shocking miss during the game.

With the score at 1-0, Morata somehow managed to scoop his effort from two yards well over the bar.

You can watch it below:

Wow. That is just embarrassing.

Fortunately for Morata, his blushes were spared as he was in an offside position.

He will use that as an excuse but, in reality, he still tried to put the ball in the back of the net.

Football fans saw the moment and reacted with laughter on Twitter.

Fair play to him for burying his next chance and scoring his second of the game just minutes later, though.

Carlo Cudicini spoke to the media after the game and gave his thoughts on Morata's performance.

He said, per Dan Levene: "I think Alvaro played an important part in today's performance. Very good performance working for the team.

"It was very important for him to score two goals - good for his confidence."

The Italian also gave his thoughts on Morata's lack of celebration after his goals.

"I think Gianfranco (Zola) mentioned for a striker it is difficult when you go through a spell where you don't score many goals. So his body language was a bit down," he added.

"I think everyone is different - some players are more affected by the critics. For us, the most important thing is that he is training hard."
