As the long-standing rivalry between these two British heavyweight giants continues, Dillian Whyte is growing more fearful that the chance to re-match Anthony Joshua sometime soon may just be off the cards after all.

Joshua has been without an opponent for his scheduled fight at Wembley on April 13 for some amount of time.

It seemed destined to be filled by Deontay Wilder, however, his draw with Tyson Fury seems to have sparked a rematch clause where by both fighters will have to fight each other before anybody else.

Joshua was ringside to witness Whyte’s incredible brawl with Dereck Chisora, which ended with an emphatic knockout delivered by the ‘Body Snatcher’ in the 11th round.

After, Whyte was quick to call out Joshua to stop avoiding him. This resulted in AJ stepping onto the ring apron, and the two began trading heated words not for the first time in their respective careers.

Whyte has been desperate for another crack at the world champion after he was knocked out in the seventh round by Joshua back in 2015. Now, four years on, though, the two have advanced immensely and the rematch would have a lot more on the line.

Currently, Joshua holds the IBF, WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles.

In a quite strange situation, both parts of this fierce rivalry share the same boxing promoter in Eddie Hearn.

Hearn has already suggested that the rematch is the most likely fight to occur. Whyte, though, hasn’t yet met with his promoter to discuss the fight.

"I’m not meeting Eddie until another two weeks. That’s not enough time to prepare for a fight like that,” he said, as per Boxing Scene.

“You need to know what’s going on so you start preparing from now. I need to know what I’m doing now, why at the end of the month? I’m meant to be meeting him, I think the 14th or 15th."

You would think that having the same promoter would make the fight much easier to make. Though, this fight seems as though it may prove just as difficult as any big heavyweight fight seems to be.

The waiting has left Whyte confused. He’s began to grow tired of Joshua’s team.

He said: "I have no idea [if I'm fighting Joshua]. I don’t know what’s going on. I expected him and his team to have at least contacted me.”

There is even rumour now, Whyte suggests, that Joshua may drop the fight at Wembley entirely and fly to America to fight Jarrell Miller in New York.

"Rumour has it that Joshua’s going to fight Miller in Madison Square Garden, so let’s see.

"It’s a small world and a lot of things you hear in boxing there’s usually a massive amount of truth to it," Whyte emitted.
