In a back-and-forth battle against the Seattle Seahawks, the Dallas Cowboys have booked themselves a spot in the NFC Divisional Round of this season's playoffs after beating the Seahawks 24-22.Dallas will have to wait until today's game between the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles is concluded to find out if they'll play against the Los Angeles Rams or the New Orleans Saints since they're the number four seed in the NFC.However, it could have easily had been the Seahawks still in the postseason due to the closely contested game between them and Dallas, especially if they hadn't messed up an important onside kick. With just over a minute to go in the game, the Seahawks scored a touchdown and successfully converted a two-point attempt to make the score 24-22. They would then attempt an onside kick to try and gain possession to kick a game-winning field goal. However, their usual kicker, Sebastian Janikowski, picked up a thigh injury on the final play of the first half, meaning punter Michael Dickson would have to kick instead. His warm-up kicks during half time didn't give many Seahawks fans hope.

Unsurprisingly, due to the state of these kicks, head coach Pete Carroll opted to go for two after every touchdown. When it came time for Dickson to come through clutch for Seattle and provide an onside kick which his teammates could recover in order to gain possession, he did almost the complete opposite.

As you can see from the video below, instead of kicking the ball the regulatory 10 yards required for an onside kick, he instead kicked the ball 30 yards downfield for an easy recovery by Cowboys' Cole Beasley to seal the game for Dallas.

It's a kick that Dickson will want to forget quickly, as it sealed his team's postseason hopes. Dak Prescott was then able to kneel the game out to send Seattle home and Dallas through to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

The Seahawks will now look forward to the offseason's draft and free agency, while the Cowboys will wait to see who wins between the Bears and Eagles tonight in order to find out their Divisional Round opponents.

If the Bears win, the Cowboys will head to New Orleans to take on the Saints. However, if the Eagles win, Dallas will be heading to Los Angeles to take on the Rams instead.
