Chelsea's 2-0 FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest will be remembered as the moment when Cesc Fabregas bid his farewells.

The midfielder made the last of his 350 appearances in English football and was reduced to tears by the end.

As the 31-year-old heads to Monaco to link up with former Arsenal team-mate Theirry Henry in the principality club's bid to avoid relegation, he could be followed out the door by a handful of other Chelsea players.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is being strongly linked with Bayern Munich; he will have done his chances of a move no harm at all on Saturday, providing the two assists for Alvaro Morata's goals.

And the arrival of the January transfer window also looks to have spelled the end for Gary Cahill.

The centre-back has found himself struggling for minutes under Maurizio Sarri, making just one substitute appearance in the Premier League all season.

Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz have been the preferred partnership, with even the promising Andreas Christensen being used scarcely and the versatile Ethan Ampadu making even fewer appearances.

With that in mind, there is simply no room for Cahill, who was beginning to show his age.

Cahill's Twitter activity

It hasn't been officially confirmed that the former Bolton man is leaving in the coming weeks, but he has all but made the announcement himself by liking a series of tweets once the squad had been announced for the Forest game - take a look:

Another read:

"So both @GaryJCahill & @cesc4official will be leaving us then. Two @premierleague & @ChelseaFC legends who have literally won it all and in style. The dressing room is losing more leaders, we need others to step up now."

Cahill very rarely uses Twitter, so this may well have been his way of getting the news out there.

Where next?

The Sun reported earlier this week that the ex-England international could be set for a surprise move to Fulham.

Linking up with Claudio Ranieri's side as they battle to beat the drop would be convenient location-wise, but without the bitterness of moving to a club involved in a more heated rivalry with the Blues.

The 33-year-old could prove a replacement for Timothy Fosu-Mensah, for whom things haven't worked out at Craven Cottage and he has therefore been told he can return to parent club Manchester United.

The fact he missed out against Forest also means Cahill will not be cup-tied if he does move to another English side.

So, after two league titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup, and a Champions League, his time at Stamford Bridge is up - amidst the emotion of Fabregas' departure, Cahill's contribution shouldn't be forgotten.
