It’s been a funny old season for Romelu Lukaku so far.

The Belgian striker has now scored eight goals in 18 league games and nine in 25 in all competitions.

Certainly not the worst numbers in the world but often the performances of Lukaku have been questioned.

The £75 million signing has looked laboured at times, with videos constantly being shared of poor touches and embarrassing moments during matches.

A run of 12 United matches without a goal earlier in the season saw him dropped by Jose Mourinho, with his physique being discussed by supporters.

Images went viral of Lukaku looked noticeably bigger than he did last season - something he put down to bulking up for the World Cup.

"It was at the World Cup (I bulked up),” he said, reported the Evening Standard. “I just felt great and I think I played great over there. Then when I came back it is a different type of style.

“When you play in the Premier League, you cannot play with the same amount of muscle as international football.”

But under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Lukaku is starting to look like his former self.

He’s now scored in his previous three appearances and he even took off his top at full-time against Reading to show off his current physique.

And United fans didn’t fail to notice just how good he looked.

Check out the reaction on Twitter:

Lukaku has clearly worked hard to get himself in shape during the season and it seems his performances are improving as a result.

And now that he’s playing under prolific striker Solsjkaer, don’t be surprised to see Lukaku go on an impressive goalscoring run.
