Unlike last season, it seems we have a Premier League title race on our hands this campaign.
Manchester City went to within four points of Liverpool on Thursday after beating their title rivals 2-1 at the Etihad.
It’s now almost impossible to call who will go on to win the league but Pep Guardiola’s side certainly now have all of the momentum.
A defeat would have seen them fall 10 points behind Liverpool and, quite possibly, out of the title race.
It’s no wonder they celebrated wildly at full-time.
It was almost as if City had won the Premier League trophy itself at the final whistle with the celebrations - which included the injured Benjamin Mendy running onto the pitch to embrace hero Sergio Aguero.
And Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes that City’s “ballistic” celebrations are a compliment to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“I’m not sure too many people picked up on it at the Etihad this week, but what struck me was just how ballistic City went when they won,” Fowler wrote in the Mirror.
"I can tell you now, Jurgen Klopp noticed. And he’ll be using it to inspire and motivate his players in the title race from here on in.
"I know it was a huge game, and a huge win for City. When you win like that it means so much, but the scenes at the end were still remarkable.
"To see possibly the best team in world football celebrate with such relief was telling.
"Liverpool lost, but Klopp will be urging them to take massive confidence from the fact that a side as big as City reacted like when beating them. He will be saying ‘that’s how good we are now’."
Fowler makes a very good point.
Although everyone associated with Liverpool will be gutted with their first defeat in the league this season, just looking at the City celebrations should demonstrate just how much they fear Klopp’s side.
