This speculation would soon be confirmed by the man himself. The Cleaner told Tokyo Sports that he will be leaving NJPW later this month, and he also explained why. Thanks to a translation by NJPW Announcer Chris Charlton, Omega said: "There is no real place for me to fit, so it’s best for me not to be in (NJPW). I can’t be there working under Tanahashi."I don’t think he’s surpassed me, don’t think he’s better. If we can, I want to face him again. But I need time away, and not just from New Japan."Ever since Omega lost the IWGP Heavyweight title at Wrestle Kingdom 13, many wrestling fans have discussed his future in pro wrestling. Some are for him joining WWE while others are against the idea.

A way for him to make his second debut the WWE would be as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble later this month on January 27. WrestleVotes has reported WWE will likely have put in a strong offer for the indie star and done all they can to sign him.

However, many wrestling fans believe Omega could also join Cody Rhodes' and The Young Bucks' newly formed wrestling company called All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Their first show is yet to be confirmed but an announcement on their debut event will be made this week.

The Cleaner himself spoke about this decision ahead of him between WWE and AEW as well.

He said, via Sports Illustrated: “If I go to WWE, the fans there will be pleased, and the fans there will be pleased if I go to AEW. I want to be in a place where Kenny is going to be happy.”

Fans will likely know which company Omega will be competing for by the end of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view later this month.
