After a poor end to 2018, WWE is looking to get 2019 off to a strong start with more of their booking directed in the benefit for the fans that attend their shows.WWE made this clear when Vince McMahon announced that himself, Stephanie McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Triple H would be taking full control of Raw and SmackDown as a collective authority, and will book to serve the wishes of the fans.It seems as though that the change will also be implemented onto, not just the main brands, but WWE live events as well.WWE was at the Germain Arena at Fort Myers on Sunday for a live event. In the main event, Dean Ambrose faced off against Seth Rollins with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. The Lunatic Fringe managed to retain his title, hitting the Dirty Deeds on Rollins as expected, but he also received a Curb Stomp from The Architect before the show finished.Ambrose sold the finisher perfectly in many WWE fans eyes, as he laid in the middle of the ring for 15 minutes after the show had finished. Officials even began to take part the ring as he laid there motionless.
The Lunatic Fringe also announced at the live event that he would be participating in the Royal Rumble match, which takes place later this month on January 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
This likely means he won't be defending the Intercontinental Championship at the Royal Rumble, unless he is booked to do double duty on the night. If he is, he will likely be defending it against his former Shield brother.
However, since Rollins is rumoured to be having a feud against Brock Lesnar after the Rumble later this year, Ambrose could have a new rival to contend with in the build-up to WrestleMania.
Seems as though he's one of the most established superstars on Monday Night Raw at the moment, Elias seems the most likely candidate to feud and have a match against The Lunatic Fringe at The Showcase of the Immortals.
