John Cena has returned to WWE events recently as part of their programme over the holiday season.
The 16-time world champion returned to SmackDown last week where he was involved in a segment and match alongside Becky Lynch, and he has also appeared at several WWE live events throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
Tonight, Cena will be on Monday Night Raw, but how he will be used on the show is unclear. After that, he'll participate in a few more house shows before he goes off to start another project which begins production on January 20.
Throughout 2018, The Leader of the Cenation took a more part-time approach to the WWE while creating his successful career path in Hollywood. In 2019, he'll do the same, but he still sees WWE as his home.
This is the reason why he never wants to leave WWE out to dry, as he sees the business as his family.
Cena said during an interview with NBC’s KULR 8, via Ringside News: “I’m literally in the search for balance, I am. I’ve told everyone in the WWE that I will not abandon ship.
“This is my home, this is my family, and I’m realizing how tough it is to balance everything but I’m here, and the best I can do is manage my time the best I can, and really just never leave my family out to dry.
“I have some wonderful opportunities coming up that I’m going to take advantage of, and a lot of that involves me being away from the WWE.”
Due to the fact that Cena will soon be taking some time away from the WWE once more to work on another project, his participation for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania this year is unclear.
There's a chance he could still compete on both shows, or his schedule could mean that he competes on neither. Fingers crossed we receive more information on his involvement on these shows on Raw tonight as we enter WrestleMania season.
