Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got Manchester United firing again.

The Norwegian took over following Jose Mourinho's departure and is expected to stay in charge at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.

And already, Solskjaer has been impressing fans.

United have won all five of the games that he's overseen and a team that looked so poor under Mourinho are now beginning to look like genuine contenders once again.

There are still weaknesses in the squad though, and the January transfer window might just offer the club a chance to fix some issues, as United look to push towards the top of the table.

According to the Mirror, The Red Devils are hoping to sign a centre-back this month.

AN ONGOING PROBLEM

That should come as little surprise, considering it was a position that Mourinho was hoping to strengthen while he was the manager.

In fact, during last summer's window, the club were linked with the likes of Jerome Boateng, Diego Godin and even Harry Maguire - however, none of them joined.

Five months on and United are still struggling defensively - but according to the Mirror, the chequebook may finally be coming out, and three names are on the club's shortlist.

THE PLAYERS ON THE LIST

The paper has named Kostas Manolas, Eder Militao and Nikola Milenkovic as the defenders that United are chasing and has also valued those players at £32 million, £42 million and £45 million respectively.

Interestingly, those on the list aren't exactly huge names compared to the likes of Godin and Boateng, but they're all still highly regarded in Europe.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE EXPERIENCE

Both Militao and Manolas have impressed in the Champions League group stage this season, with Porto reaching the round of 16 as group winners, while Roma also qualified as well.

Pursuing either of those would surely be a safe bet for United, while Milenkovic, who is just 21-years-old, would also be an exciting signing.
