Darren Fletcher has been ruled out of Manchester United's Premier League encounter with Blackburn at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Scotland skipper has sustained an ankle injury which ruled him out of Wednesday's win at Rangers and has not recovered in time to be considered for this weekend's game, when United will look to take top spot, even if they only stay there for 24 hours.
Paul Scholes is a doubt after sustaining a groin strain at Ibrox, although Sir Alex Ferguson will be heartened by the return of central defensive duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who were both rested in midweek.
Meanwhile, it is believed that Anders Lindegaard has agreed personal terms and only requires to complete a medical before he makes his move to the Red Devils from Norwegian outfit Aalesund.
The Denmark international flew into Manchester on Thursday and it now seems certain the 26-year-old will join United in January, no doubt hoping to capitalise when veteran Edwin van der Sar finally decides to call it a day.
