The future of Callum Hudson-Odoi is starting to dominate the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old appears to be breaking into Chelsea's first team, after making appearances in the Europa League, and more recently in the Premier League and FA Cup.

He's regarded as Chelsea's brightest young talent - and with that title, it's unsurprising that another team is trying to land him this month - even if it is Bayern Munich.

The German club clearly rate the youngster very highly - and have already seen a bid of over £20 million turned away.

Bayern have now made an improved bid of £35 million - which matches Chelsea's asking price, according to Sky Sports.

This attention leaves Hudson-Odoi in a rather tough position.

A DIFFICULT CHOICE

He's just breaking into the starting 11 at Chelsea and could realistically hold a place for many years to come - but a move to Germany is very tempting to say the least.

There's no doubt that Blues fans want their young talent to stay - but unfortunately, that's looking more and more unlikely.

Interestingly, to further the argument of Hudson-Odoi leaving for the better, one journalist has pointed out a very worrying fact about Chelsea's youth set-up - and it proves the winger needs to go now.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Martin Samuel has pointed out that Hudson-Odoi shouldn't wait patiently for his opportunity at Chelsea, because not one of the club's other academy prospects has ever won a regular starting place in the Roman Abramovich era.

FAILING THEIR YOUTH

That's very worrying, considering that Abramovich has been in charge for over 15 years and during that time, the Blues have had plenty of exciting prospects.

Samuel has listed the likes of Josh McEachran, Dominic Solanke, Daniel Sturridge, Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who were all at one stage Chelsea's next big thing.

But none of them ever managed to hold down a starting place at the club - and although Christensen and Loftus-Cheek may do so in the future, that fact makes bad reading for Hudson-Odoi.

Still, only time will tell if he decides to wait it out at Stamford Bridge, or jump ship to another European Giant, to play his football outside the Premier League.
