With the struggles of Monday Night Raw recently, SmackDown Live has been doing all it can to cement itself as the people's choice as number one show in WWE.
Characters such as 'The New' Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Becky Lynch and The Miz make the blue brand easily watchable, and unlike Raw there seems to be fresh matchups on a weekly basis.
For example, last weeks main event saw a Fatal Five-Way to earn the number one contendership for Bryan's WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, where Styles fended off Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali, Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe in a fantastic bout.
The attending fans in Jacksonville were given a treat though as random as it was, a tag match pitting Mysterio and Ali against Joe and Andrade 'Cien' Almas was made.
A match full of that much talent couldn't disappoint, could it?
Answer - no it couldn't.
WWE fans however were shocked when midway through the bout, Mysterio pulled off a move people thought they'd never see in the company.
Rey hit what's known as a 'Canadian Destroyer' on Almas, a move popularised by former TNA wrestler Petey Williams.
It looked so smooth and it popped the fans huge, but there was mass surprise that Mysterio was allowed to hit it.
All variations of the Piledriver are banned as far as we know from WWE, expect the Tombstone that Undertaker and Kane use, as they're extremely careful that their opponents head does not touch the mat.
The Piledriver ban is well-known though as CM Punk got in trouble for breaking one out during a Raw match with John Cena way back in 2013.
But Mysterio seemingly got the nod to use it on Almas, and the reaction on social media was telling.
Despite taking the full force of the move, Almas eventually recovered and took the win for his team with Joe prone on the outside of the ring.
With the McMahons saying they will give the fans more of what they want, there has been a lot of calls for Almas getting a more prominent role on SmackDown after his superb NXT run as a heel.
And judging off that performance and his losing efforts in 2018 against the likes of Bryan and Styles, we think El Idolo is in for a big year.News Now - Sport News
