January is either going to be a very successful or very disappointing month for Arsenal. It's claimed Unai Emery doesn't have much money to work with in the winter transfer window, so loan signings are his only option. But the issue with that is not many top-class players are available on loan midway through the season, so unless Arsenal are prepared to spend they won't be getting much.Nevertheless, Emery has made it clear that he wants to sign a new centre-back and winger in January to strengthen the club's bid to make the top four.Arsenal have been poor defensively this season and desperately need reinforcements, while they lack decent options out wide."I think the club is working to take some players who can help us during these next four months," Emery said after the 3-0 win over Blackpool, per the Daily Mail."Maybe the transfer market can help us with a centre-back, but it's not easy because [Konstantinos] Mavropanos is coming back after injury."Also a winger, right or left. One player can help us in this position."Emery was also asked about the prospect of signing Denis Suarez - who is out of favour at Barcelona and can play on the wing - but didn't give much away."He (Suarez) was playing in his career, and with me also, as a right or left winger," replied Arsenal's manager.A sticking point in any loan deal for Suarez is that Barcelona want Arsenal to sign him permanently in the summer for £20m.Arsenal, however, don't have £20m to spend right now.Guillem Balague has reiterated this point on Twitter but also revealed that Suarez has decided he wants to join Arsenal. Barcelona have said they would like to wrap things up this week.

So, time is of the essence for Emery to find £20m otherwise he risks missing out on Suarez completely this month.

Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco has also reportedly been offered to Arsenal now that he's decided he wants to leave China, though his wages could be a problem.
