It is unknown when Jose Mourinho will return to management.

The Portuguese manager's tenure at Manchester United was ended last month after a dismal start to the season.

However, despite his poor end at United, Mourinho will have no shortage of suitors.

Mourinho has won it all in his career, including three Premier League's and two Champions League's.

He is undoubtedly one of the best managers without a job in world football at the moment.

And it is believed that he has already had numerous job offers, including from Benfica.

However, Mourinho turned that opportunity down and remains a free agent.

So, what about a return to Real Madrid?

The Spanish giants have had numerous problems with their managers since Zinedine Zidane left in the summer.

Julen Lopetegui was drafted in to replace him, but lasted just 14 games in charge.

Santiago Solari was then called upon to try and save Real Madrid's season but, despite improving Madrid's fortunes, he too has had a number of disappointing results.

And it appears Los Blancos want Mourinho to be their new manager.

According to the Sun, Mourinho has been contacted by Real Madrid about a return to the Bernabeu.

Mourinho left in 2012 but, he has maintained a good relationship with Florentino Perez and Madrid's president is keen to bring him back.

He would certainly be a popular choice, with Madrid fans having made it known their desire to see him back at the helm.

However, there's a problem which could prove to scupper his chances of a Madrid return.

The Sun add that Mourinho cannot accept an offer at the moment as he is still trying to sort out his pay off with United.

Mourinho is due a £15million settlement but the finer details have not been finalised.

Thus, the Portuguese manager will remain jobless until this has been sorted.

It is unknown just how long it will take, but it is something that must be resolved before he makes his return to management.
