Video emerges of Denis Suarez playing against Liverpool after he's linked with Arsenal move

Villarreal CF v Liverpool - UEFA Europa League Semi Final: First Leg

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Denis Suarez ever since the January transfer window opened.

With Aaron Ramsey set to leave the club in the summer, the 25-year-old would be seen as an ideal replacement.

However, the Gunners don’t exactly have the funds to spend this month.

Therefore, it seems Unai Emery is looking at the possibility of signing Suarez on loan, with a view of a permanent transfer in the summer.

Well, that’s the latest according to football expert Guillem Balague anyway.

On Wednesday morning, he tweeted: “Denis Suárez wants #arsenal. Arsenal want loan (also looking for CB). But #FCBarcelona want a transfer (or obligation to buy in the summer). FCB would like it all sorted this week if possible.”

Understandably, Arsenal fans are rather excited about signing a player from Barcelona.

However, Suarez has only played twice in La Liga this season. But, in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, he made 36 and 27 appearances respectively.

Barca triggered a buy-back clause for Suarez after they had allowed him to spend one season at Villarreal.

And it was during that campaign for The Yellow Submarine that captured the attention of plenty of football fans.

Villarreal reached the semi-finals of the Europa League that season before being knocked out by Liverpool.

But Suarez’s display in the first-leg in Spain was nothing short of sensational.

And after rumours that they’re about to sign him, Arsenal fans have been sharing a video of his performance that night in April 2016.

Take a look:

Suarez set up Villarreal’s 92nd-minute winner as they beat Liverpool 1-0 in that first leg.

However, at Anfield, Suarez didn’t quite have the same effect as his side were beaten 3-0.

But just based on that first 90 minutes, it seems Arsenal fans are confident Suarez will cope playing in the Premier League against top sides.
