Manchester United are knowingly in the market for a new centre-back.
Ed Woodward's reluctance to spend big on one in the summer transfer window was the catalyst for Jose Mourinho's speedy demise at the club.
The Special One responded petulantly throughout the season, sniping at the club and the players he had at his disposal.
However, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have lifted that negativity at the club, even the Norwegian knows that United need a new central defender.
Victor Lindelof is finally showing that he has a very promising future at the club, but they simply cannot rely on Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones or Marcos Rojo any longer.
Italy seems to be the place where United are looking for defensive reinforcements, with Kostas Manolas, Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar all linked with Old Trafford.
All three are highly-rated across Europe, but would cost United quite a bit in transfer fees.
Skriniar has been linked with Solskjaer's side for some time now, but it seems he is not intent on swapping Italy for England anytime soon, according to his Instagram.
As per Manchester Evening News, the 23-year-old went on a bit of a rant on the social media platform in response to reports linking him with a move away from the San Siro.
“You write things that you don’t even know," Skriniar posted on his Instagram story.
"You are sh***. Now write an article on this."
Well, that settles that then.
Skriniar signed a new long-term deal last year and he is currently thriving at Inter, with the Nerazzurri on course to qualify for the Champions League for the second consecutive season.
Why risk moving to United during a transitional phase at such a young age? Skriniar clearly knows he is already at the right top-level environment to develop for now.
Give it a few more years and maybe the Slovakian will look to take the next step in his career.
