It seems like an age since we saw Brock Lesnar confront Daniel Cormier after his huge UFC Heavyweight Championship victory over Stipe Miocic back in July 2018.

The iconic moment occurred when DC called Lesnar into the cage, only for the former champion to shove Cormier before getting into a war of words with him.

Dana White then told the public that he envisaged the two facing off for the belt in Cormier's first defence, which angered a lot of people.

Since then, we haven't seen nor heard from Lesnar regarding an official return to the company, let alone a fight being made.

Instead, he was back in WWE where it seemed like he had left after his loss at SummerSlam to Roman Reigns, and he's once again carrying the Universal Championship.

Some cross-promotional work was rumoured to be taking place between WWE and UFC, but nothing has come of that, and Lesnar has continued to appear on Vince McMahon's television shows.

On the MMA side of things, Lesnar returned to the USADA testing pool six months ago, so his one-year ban for failing a drugs test following his UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt in 2016 would be up by January 8, which is the Monday just gone.

But Lesnar still can't step back into the Octagon just yet if he wanted to, and there's an important reason behind it.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett stated this week to MMA Weekly that Lesnar has still not paid the $250,000 fine that came along with his suspension, which makes him unable to compete still.

There's confusion as to whether that means he's just banned from fighting in Las Vegas or if it's a worldwide ban, but either way it's a sticky situation for Lesnar.

He definitely has the money as WWE reportedly pay him extortionate amounts for his appearances, but if he's not dedicated to pursuing his MMA career, there's a chance he will just let the fine lay on his record.

Of course Lesnar is performing at the Royal Rumble for WWE later this month and is expected to be at WrestleMania in April, so any potential return to UFC would come after that.
