It's been almost two weeks since the return to the Octagon of Jon Jones, who brutally knocked-out Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232 for the Light Heavyweight title in a rematch of their first classic in 2013.The second bout of course was meant to take place in Las Vegas, the home of UFC's biggest fights. But drug tests relating to Jones from earlier in December showed traces turinabol in his system, the same substance that was found to implicate him following his fight with Daniel Cormier in 2017.This left Nevada State Athletic Commission [NSAC] with no other option than to refuse him a license as they couldn't investigate in such a short amount of time whether or not the trace stemmed from the previous usage and ban as stated by UFC VP of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky. Not wanting to lose such a star from the card over what they perceived as a minor technicality, UFC top brass decided to move the whole event on six days notice, which caused outrage amongst the MMA community. After agreeing to extra VADA drug testing just days before the bout, there was no way Jones could physically fail a drugs test in his mind after past refusals to take the testing. And now the results from the tests taken on the night of the fight have been announced for the public. As revealed by Brett Okamoto of ESPN, all of his tests came back clean, which will be a huge relief to the new Light Heavyweight Champion.

It means that his projected first title defence against number three ranked Anthony Smith is set to go ahead, but still needs a license from NSAC after they refused him one a few weeks ago.

With the proof though that there's now nothing in his system, there should be nothing stopping Jones from trying to prove that he's the greatest MMA fighter of all time as he claimed in 2017.

And all other competitors will be targeting him as they look to take his belt and a big payday in the process.
