Mesut Ozil's future at Arsenal was plunged into further doubt on Saturday as the German failed to make the match-day squad to face West Ham.
Having taken part in a full week of training after returning from a knee injury, it was expected Ozil would play some kind of role at the London Stadium.
Unai Emery, however, decided to leave his chief creator at home.
Reports in the press have suggested Emery doesn't think Ozil suits his style of play, while questions have also been asked of his commitment.
Ozil's agent recently came out in the press to reject those rumours, though, saying: "I would prefer not to speak publicly about Mesut's situation.
"But given the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Arsenal, I do feel it is important to provide some clarity, so we can end this and focus on football.
"Mesut signed a new contract last January, because he saw his future at Arsenal, and nothing has changed in his mind. He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.
"Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else."
Arsenal fans reacted to news of Ozil's absence from the West Ham game with confusion and wondering what on earth is going on behind the scenes.
Emery never gives much away when he's asked about the 30-year-old's situation and insists that he does have a future at the club.
So why did Arsenal's manager leave out Ozil this time? According to the Evening Standard, Ozil was fit and available for selection but omitted for, you guessed it, "tactical reasons".
It was added on Sky Sports commentary during the game that Ozil apparently wasn't deemed ready to make a return - not even on the bench - despite training all week.
Surely Ozil's deteriorating situation at Arsenal can't go on much longer, especially when he's earning an eye-watering £350,000-per-week at the club.
It's clear that Emery has a problem with the World Cup winner and it's about time he came clean about what's going on.
