NXT UK had their first-ever TakeOver event at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool yesterday and it went down quite a treat with the fans in attendance and those that watched on the WWE Network.Zack Gibson and James Drake defeated Moustache Mountain to become the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions, Finn Balor made a surprise appearance to defeat Jordan Devlin, and Dave Mastiff defeated Eddie Dennis in a No Disqualification match.Rhea Ripley defended the NXT UK Women’s Championship against Toni Storm in what was a fantastic women's match. Storm performed Storm Zero on Ripley to win the title. In the main event, Pete Dunne successfully defended his NXT UK Championship against Joe Coffey after he forced Coffey to submit to a Triangle Choke whilst executing a Finger Snap. After the match, however, WALTER made his NXT UK debut by attacking Coffey with a Big Boot before having a staredown with Dunne as the show went off the air.Throughout the event, WWE fans in attendance at Blackpool made sure Vince McMahon knew what a good wrestling product looked like by constantly chanting 'Are you watching Vince McMahon?'The chant went down very well with those watching NXT UK TakeOver at home, although some US WWE fans struggling to understand its meaning, and even the WWE Chairman himself responded to the chants.

He said: "Yes, I watched #NXTUKTakeOver. Yes, it was awesome."

It looks as though Vince enjoyed NXT UK's first big show, and he should have a lot more confidence for the brand moving forward after an excellent performance by all the superstars involved.

WALTER's credentials should give WWE fans confidence that he'll put on a show with The Bruiserweight when the two meet in the ring, as he's not just the reigning and defending champion of WWE-affiliated indies Progress and OTT.

He’s also a former PWG World Champion, a two-time Progress Atlas Division Champion, a three-time wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion, and a three-time wXw World Tag Team Champion, one reign each with “Avalanche” Robert Dreissker, Zack Sabre, Jr., and Timothy Thatcher.

Moving forward for NXT UK, it looks as though Dunne's next challenger for the title will be the debuting WALTER, and the two could possibly face each other later this year before or during the week of WrestleMania.
