Manchester City are back to within four points of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League after their 3-0 victory over Wolves.Wolves have an incredible record against the league’s ‘top-six’ this season so this clash was being dubbed as a potential banana skin for Pep Guardiola’s side. However, Gabriel Jesus gave the home side a 10th-minute lead and the game was effectively over when Willy Boly was sent off nine minutes later for a lunge on Bernardo Silva.A Jesus penalty before half-time and a Conor Coady own-goal late on sealed a comfortable win for the champions. In fact, it was so comfortable that Ederson got a little bit bored, it seems. The Brazilian goalkeeper didn’t have a single shot to save all match so relished the chance to come out of his box to snuff out a late through ball. However, his touch was slightly heavier than he would have liked causing him to run 40 yards out of his goal to tackle Morgan Gibbs-White.Luckily, Ederson won the tackle and gave the ball to Danilo. Now, any other goalkeeper would probably now sprint back towards their goal. But not Ederson. He got the ball back from Danilo before playing a pass to Fernandinho. The midfielder then popped the ball back to Ederson, who played it straight back to Fernandinho. It was now time for Ederson to return to his goal to ensure his side kept a clean sheet.

WATCH: EDERSON PLAYS IN MIDFIELD

Take a look at Ederson’s little cameo as a midfielder:

Immediately after the moment, the camera panned to Guardiola who looked pretty furious.

Remember, Guardiola gave Raheem Sterling a very public dressing down after his showboating against Manchester United earlier this season.

And when BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Conor McNamara asked Pep about Ederson's actions, the Spaniard wasn't best pleased.

However, Guardiola did later say that City love Ederson for the way he is.

"I’m so pleased because @edersonmoraes93 lives high and defends with our back four," Guardiola said.

"We love Ederson the way he is!"

City now face two away trips to relegation candidates Huddersfield and Newcastle in their next two league games, before home clashes against Arsenal and Chelsea.

It’s probably best Ederson stays in his goal as the title race hots up.
