Sergio Aguero's behaviour on the bench when Gabriel Jesus suffered head injury

After 8-0 and 9-0 wins against Rotherham and Burton Albion in their last two matches respectively, Manchester City were always going to have a tougher time when Wolves visited the Etihad in the Premier League on Monday night.

However, it wasn’t too much tougher for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Gabriel Jesus gave the champions a 10th-minute lead and, when Willy Boly was sent off for a tackle on Bernardo Silva nine minutes later, it was effectively game over.

But it was almost game over for Jesus shortly after that.

The Brazilian striker tried to get on the end of a Kyle Walker cross but ended up colliding horribly with the post.

It appeared to be a serious head injury and the game was immediately stopped.

There was plenty of concern around the stadium for the wellbeing of the goalscorer.

However, it seemed Sergio Aguero wasn’t too bothered.

Normal procedure would have been for Aguero to immediately start warming up down the touchline.

However, when cameras panned to the Argentine, he appeared to be smirking before half-heartedly doing some squats and stretching in his seat with a big smile on his face.

Quite what Aguero found so funny when everyone else was seriously concerned about Jesus is unknown.

But it was something that plenty of football fans picked up on:

Aguero may not have meant anything sinister with his reaction but it was certainly strange.

Luckily, after a few minutes, Jesus was absolutely fine and was grabbing his second goal of the game from the penalty spot before half-time.

With 15 minutes remaining and the game done and dusted, Aguero eventually replaced Jesus.

And after the game, Jesus actually paid tribute to his teammate for his support.

“Sergio is an amazing player and helps me a lot,” said Jesus.

“When he plays, he helps the team and when I play, I want to help the team as well. He has been a great help.

“I’m playing better and I’m scoring goals, which is important for any striker. I am playing for an amazing club and I need to keep scoring and to play well.”

Jesus may want to ask Aguero exactly why he was smirking when he was down injured with a head injury, though…
