Last summer, France stormed to victory at the World Cup, winning the greatest prize in sport for only the second time in their history.

They had a team full of superstars in Russia, but one man - or boy, stood out above the rest.

Forward Kylian Mbappe, who was just 19 at the time, scored four goals in seven matches and played a key part in bringing the trophy back to France.

In fact, at a tournament where Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo largely disappointed, it was Mbappe who announced himself as football's new golden boy.

But, despite being a teenager, the Frenchman wasn't actually the youngest player ever to win a World Cup.

Of course, that record is still held by Pele.

Now a true icon of the game, he burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old at the 1958 tournament, helping Brazil win their first trophy.

By the time Pele retired, he'd won three World Cups, and became his country's all-time top scorer with 77 goals - a record that still stands today.

Plenty of comparisons can be made between how he and Mbappe made their mark on the international stage, and even Pele himself has now made some big claims about PSG's wonderkid.

HIGH PRAISE

"I think he can become the new Pele! Many people think I said that to laugh, but no, it's not a joke," he told France Football

As well as predicting a big future of the Frenchman, Pele also recalled that he teased Mbappe after he led his country to glory.

"He won the World Cup at nineteen, I was only seventeen. I teased him saying he had almost equalised."

Not many people would even think about teasing Mbappe after the way he broke through and delivered his country a World Cup at 19. But, Pele managed to find a way.
