Manchester United are flying at the moment under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Five wins out of five in the Premier League since the Norwegian took over has fired the Red Devils back into contention for the top four, although they haven't actually move in the table.

Each and every United player has upped their game over the past month and one man who has particularly thrived is Paul Pogba.

Solskjaer has given the Frenchman the freedom he always craved under Jose Mourinho and it's a decision that's paid dividends.

In the five league games Solskjaer has been in charge of, Pogba has scored four goals and assisted the same amount. He's been on fire.

The 25-year-old's latest assist came during Sunday's 1-0 win over Tottenham at Wembley, where he put Marcus Rashford through on goal with an inch-perfect pass over the top.

United fans have been delighted with Pogba's return to form and against Spurs he showed exactly why he's the main man.

Pogba was at the heart of everything good for his side and showed his strength in challenges with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Erik Lamela.

One tackle involving Alli potentially could have seen Pogba sent off, but there was no intent and that's why referee Mike Dean only awarded a yellow card.

United legend Bryan Robson discussed Pogba's tackle in his latest column for the Daily Mail and explained how he thinks the France international has toughened up over the years.

We've all heard of the story about Paul Scholes roughing up Pogba in training during his first spell at the club, but according to Robson, Scholes was under instructions from Sir Alex Ferguson.

That's right, Fergie was the man responsible for Scholes 'kicking lumps' out of Pogba and it's all because he wanted to give him a taste of what to expect at United.

"Paul has an edge about him but all top players need that to survive. I believe his temperament is excellent when you consider what he takes," wrote Robson.

"You have to look after yourself in these games and be physical when it's required, but not to hurt anyone on purpose. I don't believe that was Paul's intention.

"I've spoken before about how Sir Alex Ferguson and Mike Phelan used to get Paul Scholes to kick lumps out of Pogba in training years ago.

"I'd say, 'Woah, aren't you going to stop that?' They'd let it go because it was schooling him in what was to come.

"Paul is making United tick, so he's naturally a target for the opposition."

It may have taken him two-and-a-half years, but Pogba is finally playing his best football for United - and he has Sir Alex to thank to an extent.
