Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is making a very good case to be chosen as the next permanent manager of Manchester United.

The Norwegian club legend was brought in on an interim basis from Molde after Jose Mourinho was finally sacked following a 3-1 loss away at Liverpool.

That defeat was the final straw for Ed Woodward and the board after months of public sniping at both the players and the club's reluctance to spend on a new centre-back.

The top four seemed impossible under Mourinho's rule and the club were playing the worst football seen in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

But Solskjaer has come in and changed the entire outlook at the club.

United have now won five Premier League games on the spin, sitting level on points with Arsenal and just six behind Chelsea in fourth.

And in those five victories, the Red Devils have mustered 15 goals, while they also saw off Reading 2-0 in the FA Cup.

Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all look like different players under Solskjaer's rule.

And the interim boss appeared to take a swipe at Mourinho's tactics after the game.

Talking to Malaysian publication Astro Supersport, the Norwegian made his feelings very clear.

Solskjaer says: "Manchester United is built around, attacking football and going forwards, not stupid square and backpasses."

He doesn't name Mourinho, but who else could he possibly be talking about?

United's philosophy ever since the days of Ferguson has been about quick, attacking football and that's exactly what the Red Devils were in the first-half against Spurs.

Rashford and Martial were constantly getting in behind the back-line, while Pogba and Jesse Lingard were constantly getting from box to box at pace.

Brighton are the next team to visit Old Trafford on Saturday, before United's huge FA Cup fourth-round tie against Arsenal.
