Lionel Messi is a football phenomenon.

The Barcelona forward burst onto the scene back in 2004 - and since then, has put himself in the conversation to be remembered as the greatest of all time.

15 years after making his La Liga debut, the Argentine has hit goal number 400, becoming the only man ever to do so in the Spanish league.

What's even more impressive, is that he reached that huge milestone in just 435 games.

He's scored so many goals, that even a Messi superfan wouldn't be able to remember every single one.

Some, of course, do spring to mind for many people though.

His dazzling run against Getafe in 2007 - when he beat six players en-route to goal, is perhaps one of Messi's most legendary strikes.

Other goals against the likes of Real Madrid will always be remembered too, because he's made the most elite level of opposition look silly at times.

But for the man himself, there's one goal in particular that he'll never forget.

MESSI'S MOST MEMORABLE

"The first against Albacete from the pass of Ronnie [Ronaldinho], I will never forget," Messi told Mundo Deportivo.

"The goals of the Clasicos are always special and against hard opponents that are usually Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla."

So, despite scoring 399 La Liga goals after it, Messi still remembers his first most fondly.

DOING IT FOR THE FANS

And he also values those that he's scored at home as some of his best too.

"Also those that I have had the luck to score in front of our fans," he continued.

"In Camp Nou they are always nice. In the end, the most important goals are not the most spectacular, but those that serve us as a team to win."

Messi may have already broken numerous Spanish scoring records and reached 400 league goals, but at 31-years-old, he's still got plenty of time to add to that tally.
