There’s every chance that Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions at the end of this season. There’s still a long way to go, of course, but the Reds currently possess a healthy four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City with 16 fixtures left to play.Liverpool won the last of their league titles back in 1990 - but there’s a real belief inside Anfield that this really could be the year they end their long wait for English football’s biggest prize.Jurgen Klopp has assembled a formidable squad during his three years in charge of the Merseyside outfit. The Reds now possess strength in depth in every area of the pitch and Klopp will already be looking at ways he can improve his squad for next season. The Times’ Paul Joyce revealed on Thursday afternoon that Andrew Robertson was set to pen a new five-year deal - a richly-deserved reward for his brilliant recent form.In the same article, Joyce also revealed that two of Liverpool’s squad players are set to be offloaded this summer. The first, perhaps unsurprisingly, is Alberto Moreno. The Spanish full-back, whose contract expires this summer, has failed to convince from the moment he arrived at Anfield back in 2014.“Moreno has managed just 12 appearances for Liverpool since losing his place through injury and will leave on a free transfer at the end of the season,” Joyce confirmed. “A return to Spain is likely for the former Seville player.”Joyce also claims Daniel Sturridge will be leaving Liverpool after six years at the club.“Daniel Sturridge — who has until February to respond to a FA misconduct charge relating to betting — will also depart with his contract scheduled to run out in the summer,” Joyce added. There’s been a mixed reaction to the news from Liverpool fans on social media.

While the majority of them are glad to hear that Moreno is finally being axed, many of them are also sad that Sturridge’s time at Anfield is also coming to an end.

The 29-year-old was incredible during his first season-and-a-half with the Reds, scoring 35 goals in 49 matches, but injuries have significantly reduced his game-time in recent years.
