It's approaching a year since Tiemoue Bakayoko dropped his 'disasterclass' against Watford.

Chelsea fans had been expressing their perturbations for some time, but a catastrophic performance at Vicarage Road seemed to be the final straw for many at Stamford Bridge.

In truth, Bakayoko never found his rhythm in the Premier League and looked a shadow of the midfielder that had impressed so many with AS Monaco.

As a result, there weren't too many disappointed when Chelsea took the decision to loan him out, with Gennaro Gattuso securing his signature at AC Milan.

During his opening few months in Serie A, there was an acceptance that Bakayoko might never return to his former status and criticism was filling the Italian papers on a near-weekly basis.

Bakayoko's AC Milan form

But fast forward to January and Bakayoko is starting to turn things around, delivering performances that are reminding fans exactly why Chelsea signed him in the first place.

Whatever magic wand Gattuso has waved in recent weeks has worked perfectly and Bakayoko had another opportunity to impress during the Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus.

The Old Lady claimed the trophy in the end with Cristiano Ronaldo - who else? - bagging the winner, but Bakayoko still left a lasting impression against one of European football's best midfields.

Bakayoko's highlights vs Juventus

The Frenchman was seen breaking up Juventus attacks, dictating the play from deep and even catching Giorgio Chiellini and co. off guard with a number of penetrating passes.

Was it the most glamorous performance in footballing history? Certainly not, but it was exactly the kind of showing that Chelsea fans were crying out for last season.

That considered, YouTube user Piergi has compiled Bakayoko's highlights from the final and shows that so much has changed since that night in Watford.

Take a look at the full video down below:

Now that's the Bakayoko that created so much hype.

Sure, the 24-year-old has produced some more overtly dominant performances this season but this is against Juventus, who many are tipping for Champions League glory.

Bakayoko boasted a passing accuracy of 83% throughout the game, won seven of his 11 duels, completed three successful long balls and was never dispossessed during his dribbles.

Inevitably then, such a cultured performance from Bakayoko will have fans speculating about his future and if anything, it actually confuses it.

Chelsea have a history of giving players a second chance when they return from loan, so it might be worth Maurizio Sarri allowing him a full pre-season to prove himself.

But if the machinations of Premier League football still aren't compatible, then perhaps a permanent move to AC Milan could be the solution and almost everybody at the club would back that move.

Based on his current form, though, AC Milan might have to bat off plenty of competition.
