PSG were out for revenge when they took on Guingamp at the Parc des Princes. Reunited with the side that knocked them out of the Coupe de la Ligue less than a fortnight ago, Thomas Tuchel's men showed no mercy as they romped to a 9-0 win. It equals the club's highest ever league scoreline and extends their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 13 points ahead of Lille, having played two games fewer. Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani both scored matter-of-fact hat-tricks, sandwiched by a Neymar brace and a goal for Thomas Meunier. The only dampener came in the form of Marco Verratti's ankle injury, especially with PSG's midfield already depleted. It looked serious and he now seems almost certain to miss the Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester United. Tuchel told beIN SPORTS, quoted via AS: "I am happy and sad. Happy because we won 9-0 with a good spirit and with a lot of quality. We had a lot of chances, we played with structure."We controlled the counter-attacks and I am very happy for that. But I am sad for Marco Verratti. It's possible that he will be out for a few weeks."It's a pity that anything should take away from what was an outstanding performance by the champions.

Neymar's 'back pass'

Neymar may have been outshone by his attacking partners, but the Brazilian was in phenomenal form and picked apart the Guingamp defence with ease.

The 26-year-old played with such a swagger that with his side cruising, he laid off the ball to Cavani with his back.

Some players might be forced into a trick like that, but the forward was facing the ball as it was played in over the top - it was just a glorious display of audacity.

"I have to think about it, but I don't think I've ever seen that before - 9-0 in a league game," Tuchel told reporters in his post-match press conference.

"After the first, second, third goal, we played with a lot of confidence. We did simple things but very quickly and decisively. We are very satisfied and very happy."

Whatever it says about the quality of French football, when the Parisians are in this mood nobody would fancy their chances against them.

And that goes for United too, who for all their progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be under no illusions about the task ahead of them in the Champions League.
