Greg Hardy made his UFC debut at UFC Brooklyn on Saturday night, but many MMA fans will be hoping that he never gets a fight with the promotion again. The former NFL star faced Allen Crowder in a heavyweight clash at UFC Brooklyn, but the bout ended in controversy. The first round was a back-and-forth clash between the two fighters, but Hardy ended up getting himself disqualified in the second with an illegal knee.As you can see in the video further down, Hardy struck Crowder with an illegal knee to the head, resulting in the referee intervening and bringing the fight to an end at the 2:28 mark of the second round.Due to this controversial finish, his chequered past, and his inexperience in MMA, many fans are hoping this is the last time we see the former NFL star fight for the UFC.

Speaking to the media after the fight, via MMA Junkie, Hardy took full responsibility for the illegal knee but stated that he did not do it on purpose.

He said: “I take full responsibility. It’s not something I did on purpose. Anybody that’s ever met me, or been around me, knows that’s something I wouldn’t do.

“I just wish we could go back and go into the third round.”

However, despite the illegal knee and being booed out of the arena in Brooklyn, Dana White was impressed with Hardy on his UFC debut.

The UFC President said, via Bloody Elbow: “One thing that I did learn about Hardy tonight, he can fight. He can fight, he’s an athlete, not only can he punch hard, but he can take a big punch.

"He got hit with some good shots tonight, his ground game, I think everybody thought if he got taken down to the ground that was gonna be the end of him.

“He got out of trouble on the ground several times, and he learned a lot tonight.”

The UFC has been criticized for their decision to sign Hardy due to his domestic violence case in 2014. White, however, says the 30-year-old will get another chance to fight in the UFC.

He said: “Yeah, he’ll get another fight. He made a real big rookie mistake and it caused him an L tonight. It ruined his perfect record.”
