Nick Foles did all he could to send the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl again in the playoffs last week against the New Orleans Saints, but it wasn't enough.

The Eagles lost 20-14 to the Saints in the Divisional Round of the postseason last weekend, bringing their aim of retaining the Vince Lombardi trophy to an end.

A return to the Super Bowl wasn't the only thing Foles missed out on, as the quarterback also failed to play in 33 percent of the team’s offensive snaps during the 2018 regular season, meaning he missed out on a $1 million bonus.

Or so it may seem.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, Philadelphia has done right by their backup quarterback that has taken them to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons following injuries to Carson Wentz.

Yates has reported that the Eagles have paid Foles the $1 million bonus despite him not meeting the contractual requirements by just four snaps in the regular season.

Due to his performances for the Eagles over the past two seasons, Foles will be a highly sought after quarterback if he hits free agency in March.

Philadelphia could stop that from happening, as they could potentially exercise a $20 million option for 2019 to keep him at the team or try and find a trading partner.

If Foles wants out of this deal, he could pay $2 million to the Eagles, which is now only $1 million if you want to include the team's reported generosity to their quarterback despite not meeting the snap count requirement.

However, the Eagles could go one further and keep hold of the 2018 Super Bowl MVP by applying the franchise tag to him, in hopes that they could then trade him off to the highest bidder.

Foles completed 72.3 percent of 195 pass attempts during the regular season with seven touchdowns against four interceptions.

With plenty of teams in the NFL always in need of a quarterback, there's bound to be a strong interest in Foles this offseason, just like there was after he won the Super Bowl last season.
