On Saturday night, Chelsea suffered another defeat at the hands of a top-four rival.

This time, it was Arsenal who beat them - with goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny securing a 2-0 victory at the Emirates.

In truth, it was a very comfortable victory, as the Gunners far outclassed Maurizio Sarri's visiting side.

The result will have massive implications in the race for Champions League football, as Arsenal are now just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

If losing their grip on that fourth spot wasn't bad enough, things could soon get even worse at Stamford Bridge after what manager Sarri said after the game.

The Italian tactician launched a spectacular rant towards his own players, questioning their mentality and fight.

SARRI'S ASTONISHING WORDS

"I'm really angry about the approach that we had today," Sarri said during his post-match press conference.

"it seems to me that we are finding it very difficult to get up for the game, to be truly motivated.

"These players don't have a ferocity, it's the type of players they are. This is a team that's never going to be known for its battling qualities."

It's not very often that a manager comes out to criticise his whole team in public, even if the performance did warrant that.

Instead, most choose to do it in the dressing room or in private - and they expect a response after it.

Sarri didn't do that though - and Rio Ferdinand believes that decision may backfire in a big way.

ANOTHER PLAYER REVOLUTION AT CHELSEA?

"He [Sarri] looks depressed and I think he has got every right to be," the BT Sport pundit said on Saturday night.

"That is a huge cause for concern. To say that your team are lacking motivation, especially in these big games. You should be bouncing out of bed and flying onto that pitch, raring to go."

Although Sarri had a right to be concerned, Ferdinand believes that he voiced that the wrong way - and the players will now be going behind his back.

"The WhatsApp group will be going bananas," he continued.

"'Have you seen this? Get on this' - there will be comments on it. And they will all abort the WhatsApp group after."

From the sounds of it, Ferdinand wouldn't be surprised if we see another player revolution at Chelsea - similar to what happened under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

He is, of course, an ex-pro, so he knows exactly how players think and react to this kind of thing, and his comments will certainly be worrying for Sarri and the club's fans.
