Marcus Rashford is just one of several Manchester United players thriving under the stewardship of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 21-year-old had scored seven goals for the season before Jose Mourinho was given his marching orders midway through December.
But since Solskjaer took charge of his first match against Cardiff almost exactly a month ago, he has found the net five times and assisted once.
There’s no question Rashford has reaped the benefits of playing for a manager without the defensive tendencies which Mourinho enforced upon his squad.
His return to form has even caught the eye of his teammates, one of whom - Ashley Young - believes Solskjaer the ideal mentor for the young striker.
“He’s not a bad person to learn off, is he?” he said, per the Mirror.
“With the career he had and what a player he was.
“The manager will guide him, and Marcus just wants to learn. He’s on the training pitch all the time and at times you have to drag him off, because he just wants to be out there.
“It’s fantastic to see, he’s got that hunger, that desire, he’s a winner, and when you come through the academy here, you’ve got that in abundance.
“He can only get better.”
Rashford made his 150th appearance for United versus Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday, marking the achievement with a superb strike to top off a man of the match performance.
Reflecting on the player Rashford has become in such a short period of time, Solskjaer was asked if the England youngster could one day emulate the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
In response, he said: “Yeah, definitely. He can be absolutely top-class.
“He’s only 21, but he is showing maturity at times beyond that. The more you score the more chance you have of being confident, of running into the same positions, and the way he works during the week is fantastic because he practises a lot.”
A needless, tired lunge in stoppage time was the only mistake Rashford made during an otherwise brilliant afternoon, but the act was enough to see him booked and then substituted.
However, instead of ticking him off, the Norwegian actually found his display of frustration rather endearing.
“He’s a proper Manc,” Solskjaer said of Rashford.
“You can’t kick him and keep him down, he’ll stand up for a fight and stand up for himself and a team-mate.”
With nine goals and six assists under his belt already this season, Rashford is sure to play a key role in the Red Devils’ push for automatic Champions League qualification.
