It’s safe to say that Paul Pogba is enjoying life under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The French midfielder scored his fifth goal in six appearances under the Norwegian in Manchester United’s 2-1 win against Brighton on Saturday.

Pogba’s performances only serve to confirm the notion that his relationship with previous boss Jose Mourinho was affecting him on the pitch.

Reports of a rift between the two were frequent, with Pogba admitting that he couldn’t speak out on the fractured relationship.

“When people trust you and have confidence then you are good in your own head, it's going to be easier,” Pogba said last August, per Goal.

The 25-year-old now has someone who believes in him.

Solskjaer has released the shackles and the Red Devils are benefitting from it, the win over Brighton leaving them just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Ibrahimovic: Pogba needs to be free

One man who was there when the cracks began to appear is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who arrived at Old Trafford in the same summer as Pogba did.

The Swedish striker has shared his thoughts on Pogba’s revival, claiming that the France international needs to feel free in order to produce his best.

“There are these players that need to be free, they need to feel free to do what they are able to do under the disciple of the coach,” Ibrahimovic told ESPN FC.

“Obviously, he has his tactics, he has that, but some players they go above these limits, and you need to let them be free, and I think Paul is one of them.

“Paul didn’t feel confidence from the coach [Mourinho], and the coach didn’t feel confidence for Paul.

“It’s difficult to perform as a player if you don’t have confidence from the coach and you don’t have that energy, that motivation, and Jose felt the same thing about Paul.

“These things happen, and that is part of the game also; I mean, not everybody can go among each other and do well together.

“I feel like you come to a moment where it is too blocked and one goes or the other one goes. At this moment, the coach left, and Paul is more free now.”

Unfortunately for Mourinho, he was outlasted by Pogba. And Man United look all the better for it.
