Gameweek 23 in the Premier League provided fans across the country with some thrilling fixtures and plenty of fantasy football managers some food for thought.

We've decided to take a look at the top five points scorers from the weekend to show who appears to be hitting top form.

Of the top five scorers this week, only one features in more than 1.5% of teams. Unsurprisingly that was the league’s top scorer Mohamed Salah.

Nevertheless, it was a big week for the fantasy managers who took a gamble on players from the less popular clubs.

Fabian Schar (21 points)

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar managed to notch up the highest amount of points in the league with 21, which makes up more than half of his overall points tally for the season so far.

The Swiss international banged in two goals to help lift his side out of the relegation zone whilst also contributing at the back to ensure the Magpies secured a clean sheet against Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side.

Diogo Jota (19 points)

Portuguese midfielder Diogo Jota scored a sensational hat-trick for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Leicester in undoubtedly one of the most exciting games so far this season to earn 19 points for himself.

Jota’s injury-time winner meant that the West Midlands side leapfrogged the Foxes to sit in eighth place in the Premier League.

Expect Jota's cost to increase this week as a result.

Laurent Koscielny (15 points)

Arsenal’s veteran centre-back Laurent Koscielny earned a deserved 15 points after a stellar performance for the Gunners as they defeated London rivals Chelsea to close the gap on fourth place.

The Frenchman scored Arsenal’s second goal in fortunate fashion as the ball looped into the back of the net off his shoulder.

Koscielny was also solid at the back as he captained his side to a clean sheet as well as victory.

Mohamed Salah (15 points)

Mohamed Salah continued his fine goalscoring form as he netted a brace against Crystal Palace to help Liverpool win 4-3.

In the process, the Egyptian bagged his 50th Premier League goal and proved why he’s in nearly half of all Fantasy Premier League teams.

Danilo (15 points)

Danilo opened the scoring for Manchester City as they completed a routine 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

The Brazilian scored a fortuitous long-range effort that deflected in off Christopher Schindler’s head to break the deadlock.

The former Real Madrid man also put in a solid performance in defence, making a number of crucial tackles to keep the low-scoring Terriers at bay as they languish at the bottom of the league.
