But that’s beside the point. The Hammers made several changes to a side that are bottom of the table. Without Frederic Piquionne, Scott Parker and Lars Jacobsen, who would have predicted we would beat United never mind hammering them 4-0?
Jonathon Spector deserves an immense amount of credit after all the criticism he has received during his years at West Ham, as he came out and played a tremendous game. He hadn't played all season and to play with such determination and energy is admirable. Luis Boa Morte is another man who had a brilliant game. These are players who United would not have seen as a threat initially.
The arrival of Wally Downes has definitely changed a few things. Even watching him on the sideline, he shows a large amount of involvement and he hands out instructions to the players. Is it coincidence or is he having an immediate effect on the team?
Needless to say, Tuesday night was one of the best of my life. Beating United 4-0 – something which isn’t going to happen too often. You would wonder if we performed like that all season where would we be in the table!
I’m looking forward to Sunday’s game against Sunderland to see the team and also how we perform. Things are starting to look our way eventually. We’re bottom of the table but there’s no point in worrying about that every day. By taking each game in its stride, we should be fine.
So bring on Sunderland, perform exactly how we did against United and the 3 points are ours. We’ll be off the table for Christmas. Looking forward to it, and thanks for Tuesday boys!
