No one expected Liverpool to struggle the way they did against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp's side headed into the game as Premier League leaders and having only lost one game all season. Another victory seemed inevitable.

But in the 34th minute, Andros Townsend gave Palace a 1-0 lead to silence the Anfield crowd and the away side held on until half-time.

Normality was eventually restored when Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino put Liverpool 2-1 ahead, but then James Tomkins equalised from a corner.

Goals from Salah and Sadio Mane later gave Liverpool a two-goal cushion and they just about held on to win 4-3 after Max Meyer struck in stoppage time.

Speaking after the game, Klopp expressed "relief" at beating Palace by such a narrow margin and admitted his side simply weren't good enough in the opening 45 minutes.

"Somebody asked me already what was the main feeling or emotion after the final whistle and it was relief," said Klopp, per Liverpool's website. "A game like this can go in all directions.

"We were extremely dominant in the first half, but we were 1-0 down. We created chances but not enough, maybe not clear enough.

"We didn't have enough players in the decisive areas, we had a lot of players in the preparing areas. That can happen, of course, so at half-time it was clear we had to change that.

"We needed players in the decisive areas, more bodies in the box and all that stuff. Thank God it worked pretty well immediately.

"We forced these two goals to come back and everyone felt the atmosphere."

Klopp claims he was relieved when the full-time whistle went, but 'Inside Anfield' footage has emerged showing that wasn't really the case.

In the video below, Klopp looks absolutely livid on the touchline after watching his side concede another sloppy goal to Palace. Moments earlier he was wildly celebrating Mane's solo effort.

Now that's a face like thunder.

Defensively Liverpool have been fantastic this season, but they were poor against Palace and Klopp will look to rectify that before next Wednesday's clash with Leicester City.
